How the Vineyard Became Something Different

WHEN LUKE AND RACHAEL PROSSEDA DECIDED IN LATE 2024 to close their restaurant Vineyard di Norma, they didn’t know what was next. They just knew the restaurant they’d been running for a few years wasn’t working how they wanted it to. The brother and sister duo contemplated a few different moves, including walking away from restaurant ownership altogether after their final service on Christmas Eve.

A little over a month later, however, they transformed the Vineyard into something different by colorfully reconfiguring the space, with a simplified approach to service.

It’s definitely something different from their beloved Italian-ish fare–the new and expansive menu doesn’t easily fit into one single type of cuisine, but the same approach to quality ingredients and sourcing remains. It’s also something different from other restaurants, insofar as the cheeky and approachable menu mixes up small and big plates and offers a focused but mighty list of wine, cocktails and beer. It’s something different for all these reasons, but it feels straightforward, too. ”Something different fits us. It’s what makes us unique as people and a restaurant,” says Luke.
