White Negroni Sbagliato

from Bar Torino

IN KEEPING WITH OUR FOCUS ON WINE, we asked the team at Bar Torino to share a cocktail made with wine. (And no, we aren’t talking about sangria). Since this downtown Easton spot opened in 2024, one of its signature cocktails, Johnny the Baptist, has gained popularity. With red wine, cola, FernetBranca and Cynar, lemon juice and bitters, it might not be a familiar combo, but it’s a delicious one.

For spring, General Manager Cody Rohrbach and his bartending team (Alicia Young and Kass Kromka) have offered up a riff on a White Negroni Sbagliato—which translates roughly into “mistake.” But there’s no mistake about combining Lillet Blanc and Cocchi Americano Bianco, topped with sparkling Flora Prosecco. The result is a crisp, refreshing sipper with a slight bitterness from the Cocchi Americano and citrus-floral notes carried to your palate through some effervescence. It’s the perfect drink for spring.

You can make this drink easily at home if you have these ingredients on hand, and pick up the Flora Prosecco at Bar Torino’s bottle shop. “Or order it along with the Tempura Artichokes or the Braised Beef Cheek and Ricotta pizza,” suggests Rohrbach.
